Short Bros Homes

More About Us

The founder and majority shareholder of Short Bros Homes Ltd, Nigel Short, started his career in the steel industry in the first of the family’s companies, Short Bros Plant Ltd, and this namesake transitioned when Short Bros Homes Ltd came into being.

The former company, at the height of its success, was one of the largest and most recognizable plant and heavy machinery hire companies in the United Kingdom before its merger with Multiserv. Providing secure employment opportunities and bolstering the local supply chain was a key focus for Short Bros Plant Ltd who, at its peak, employed around 1,500 people. This ethos has been passed down to us at Short Bros Homes Ltd, where our goal is to have a local workforce and established contractor base to underpin a circular economy within South Wales.

Our company has been built with a vision to deliver energy efficient homes which incorporate as many renewable technologies as possible. Green energy is imbedded in our brand, having installed over 5 mega-watts of Solar photovoltaic panels across Wales over the last 5 years and commissioning a 4 Megawatt Biomass woodchip processing facility in 2017 from which we continue to supply valued customers such as the NHS.

As individuals we are committed to similar ideals and each Director drives an electric car and these vehicles are almost exclusively powered by the 1.4 Megawatt solar system installed at our head office in Carmarthenshire.

We combine our technical knowledge and skills in the construction and renewable technology sectors to deliver homes with the most advanced and sustainable technologies currently available. We ensure our homes provide value for money and continue to be economical and environmentally friendly by reducing their overall fossil fuel requirements.

Building strong and vibrant communities is paramount to our vision and wherever possible we incorporate ecological features and natural play areas to encourage all generations to interact and embrace their environment. As we inevitably face a period of change post Covid-19, our designs will adapt and evolve to accommodate home offices and incorporate the provision of sufficient public realm areas wherever practicable.
